Why CCTV?

CCTV is vastly becoming the standard in security necessities, with crime figures forever present, even the home can benefit from CCTV. Not just as a crime prevention and deterrent, but also good enough digital images to prosecute with. As a lot of insurance companies are requesting CCTV as a essential part of the criteria, CCTV can help you save money based on the following points:

• Premises fully monitored 24 hrs per day - 365 a year.
• Safety in work - accidents can be monitored.
• Reduced Insurance Premiums.
• Deterrent for thieves, vandals, reducing loss and insurance claims.
• Overall peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I don't want a big camera in my workplace??

There are lots of different types of cameras that suit various circumstances, from Dome cameras to Covert cameras mounted in a wall clock. Contact us to see our range.

Q: What about the Data Protection Act??

The data protection act be complied with by displaying the necessary signs at your premises and following the guidelines set out in the "data protection" part of this web site

Q: What if the camera outside attracts unwanted attention??

This is a valid point, although with our experience once people know they are being recorded, the fun is over. All our housings come marked as Vandal proof. These units can be wall mounted, have internal heaters and are extremely robust yet aesthetically pleasing.

Q: What if I don't have time to keep changing tapes and forget the time there is an incident??

The recommendation in today's technological climate is to use Digital video recorders (DVR). They act like the hard drive of a PC. The DVR can store up to a month of CCTV recording without having to touch it. There are search facilities where you can instantly jump to a specific time / date. Archiving is made easy with a CD writer. The font panel is just like a Video and is simple to use.

Q: I want to upgrade to colour cameras??

Depending on the lighting levels there are several options to colour cameras, if the levels are low, unless flood lights are to be used then, you will have stick to Mono cameras, unless you choose the night and day option

Q: I have got 4 cameras, do I choose a Multiplex or Quad??

Simply a quad will split the current monitor screen into 2 or 4 screens that view is what is recorded to the DVR/VCR. A multiplexor allows you to watch all four cameras at once whilst the multiplexor records each camera individually. This enables play back full screen of any one chosen camera. You can have up to 16 cameras on one Multiplexor

Q: How much electricity does each camera use??

The current consumption from a CCTV camera is very little - the 12V cameras draw around 300m.
